Where We Go
We provide ground transport to the lower 48, with occasional service to Alaska available. Some routes may be limited certain times of year due to weather. Our routes are door to door, which minimizes scheduling difficulties and let’s you keep your pet in their own environment right up until they get on the van.
How We Get There
MWZ Pet Transport is not a big company with a staff of drivers. I am an owner/operator, and personally handle each route. We cover about 800 miles a day, and overnight I sleep in the van with the pets. Your pet’s safety and security is an utmost priority. In fact, they receive the same care as my dogs who are on board too!
We have a goal of moving on an efficient schedule so that your pet gets to your destination quickly and without delay. If you live over a certain distance from the highway, we will have you meet up with us at a chosen location so that we do not have to deviate too far from our route. Any delays due to traffic or weather are communicated immediately to all clients as soon as it is safe to do so.
Caring for Pets
When you book a spot on the van, we will send you a questionnaire for you to fill out with information about your pet. This includes their age, breed, medical history, quirks and individual traits, feeding instructions, and any other information you would like to provide. All pets are required to have a valid health certificate and proof of vaccinations, and we must receive a copy of these documents.
While on our journey, dogs are walked every 4-5 hours, and each dog is walked individually. This is both for safety and to make sure that they get genuine 1-on-1 time during their break. All dogs are walked on double leashes, with a GPS tracking collar. We provide bottled water at every stop, and overnight. Food is provided on the schedule requested by the owner. At each stop, we will provide a picture and text update so that you can see how your baby is doing.
Puppies who have not completed their vaccinations will be handled with a “no paws on ground” protocol. There are multiple ways that this protocol is handled by shippers, but our preferred method is as follows. We travel with an exercise pen that we can set up for young puppies, and we place single use plastic drop cloth underneath, with pine shavings for comfort and traction on top. Your puppy can run and play, without being exposed to germs that are in the soil.
Your pet will ride in a RuffLand kennel in the van. Dogs are not allowed to ride loose, no exceptions. We do not utilize wire, cloth, or Vari-Kennels as these are unsafe in the event of an accident. In between each route, all crates are pulled out, the van is completely sanitized, and each crate is fully sanitized.
Cats, birds, and pocket pets also ride in RuffLands! Cats will be in a RuffLand with their own personal, fully sanitized litterbox that is cleaned at every stop. Birds and pockets pets will be inside their transport cage, which is put into the RuffLand for safety.
Private Transports
We do not offer true “private transports”, because my personal dogs join me for all of our journeys. We do offer Solo Stop transports, where your dog is the only client pet on board. These transports are at a higher price point because you are not sharing the trip with other customers, but your pet will arrive in a shorter timeframe.
